[ Jack returns the call a couple hours later, smiling into the feed. He has a bit of unnoticed smudge of dirt on his cheek. ]

[The voice was unsure and the cadence of her sentences had a jagged, awkward wave to them.]

[There’s a far off sigh, away from the microphone before the voice comes back at normal volume.]

[Of all the times to suddenly sound like a lost child, Korra’s mindset picked now.]

It's all right Korra, I understand what you mean.

[ He's seen Finnick's message, concerned for his friend but knowing better than to push company on someone when they need time to sort themselves out. ]

Bring it by the store, I can whip up some containers so they can be frozen.

[ He realizes that Korra can probably freeze them herself with waterbending, but it makes him feel a little less useless. ]

[ The view the console’s camera provides is a dull one. There’s the opposite wall, white and unadorned. There’s the upper most part of a chair, some red fabric draped across the top. But there’s not much else in view. Certainly no Tony Stark, though since the console has been activated, it’s obvious that someone has to have turned it on.

There are no sounds filtering in from any other part of the apartment. No glimpses of movement from the edges of the video feed.

Nothing at all to hint that Tony stood up, turned the console on, promptly lost his balance, and is now lying on the floor between it and the chair. Dazed. Thoroughly drunk. And without a clear memory that he turned the thing on in the first place.

But the console is on. And it's still recording a vast lot of nothing. ]

What do you mean, 'how much about them'? I know there's a lot of people I can't find and the Wind can't find either. And Zatanna was there but then she disappeared again.

[He's not asking what caused it, or if Jack was affected, per se. He knows the problems the kid has with being invisible, and he just wants to make sure he's all right in the aftermath.]

[ The fact that Jim bothered to contact Jack at all is enough for the spirit; not that he thought the captain didn't care, just that he'd have his hands full. So Jim gets a calm smile, not forced. Having other people to focus on helping keeps him from dwelling too much on his own experiences with that particular phenomenon. ]

[It was early, but she knew Jack very rarely slept. Maybe he wasn't the best choice, given the circumstances. Then again, he was also one of the few people she trusted most when it came to just about anything.]

How does he convey that not only was it a spirit principle thing but that it was so important to him that someone like Spock to be asking those kind of questions? Someone who literally embodied skepticism and doubt, asking about a magical man flying around the world and delivering presents? That was special, important. And then that person had... ]

[The moment Zatanna saw Jack's announcement...caught a brief glimpse of some of the conversations...well, she was in such a rush, she didn't even bother to grab her jacket. In an instant, she was up and out the window. Climbing over the branches with a practiced ease. Coming to sit on the edge of his windowsill. And she knocked.]

[ It's not Jack who unlatches the window for her but Baby Tooth, chirping worriedly at her and pointing towards the bedroom. The console is quiet for the moment and Jack is on his stomach, one arm dangling off the edge of the bed and tracing lazy whorls of fernfrost on the wooden rings that make up the floor. Despite repeated assurances to the faerie that he was all right, the utterly listless, empty look he wore said otherwise. He barely even shifted his gaze in Zatanna's direction as she entered. ]

[ He still sounds tired, but he's had a chance to remove the last of the effect from the snow in Bresilyk so he's allowing himself (selfishly, he thinks) a few moments of rest. ]

[ Jack almost laughs, almost because Julie is off work, Booker is drinking himself into oblivion and now Korra's going to be away -- and that's not even touching the time he wants to spend with Zatanna to make sure she is doing all right. He doesn't say anything, he wouldn't, but he does figure he'll be pretty well living at his various places of employment for the next little while. ]
