[Have a very tired looking Korra holding an ice pack on top of her head. Her hair is somewhat a mess and her voice is mostly a croak.]

Good morning. [It's been a few months since she said the phrase since she always sleeps in.]

[ Ouch Korra, what happened to you? ]

Hey there. Rough night?

Yeah, you could say that.

[First hangover, and she'll most likely make it her last. Her hand loosens on the ice pack that mostly water and then it hardens with frost forming outside of it.]

Do you know if Zatanna made it home okay? When was the last time you saw her?

[It's hard to raise your voice when it feels like a cracked wasteland]

[ Jack raised both eyebrows at the question. ]

Why wouldn't she have? I talked to her two days ago, at her place.

She didn't tell you...?

[After that sunk in, she tosses the ice pack onto the desk so she can rub her eyes with both hands. They still stung, once they were a little more clear, she flipped on Tony's private encryption.]

Last night we both celebrated getting our memories back and she told me that Damian had literally threatened her life because she forgot about Dick.

[And now for the reason she took it to private:] I don't know what you know about Damian, but he can seriously kill her! I was calling to ask if you could keep watch over her.

I offered her to stay with me, but she said she'd be okay with Dick and- you being there.

Damian what...?

[ There's no disbelief in Jack's gaze when Korra impresses upon him that it was conceivable. But there is uncertainty there. ]

He just has a way of talking, Korra. He wouldn't have meant it.

[Zatanna told Korra the same, but she's sure it was just to keep the Avatar calm and to prevent her from breaking things.]

You didn't see or hear her when she said it, Jack. Zee said he literally threatened her life, and she doesn't get serious on me like that.

[Just thinking about it made her put her ice pack on her head again.]

Please, just check up on her. You can get there before I do.

[ That gives him pause because Zatanna isn't often serious to that point when something is wrong. Like Jack himself, she handles things in a different way. So he nods and pushes back from his seat at the console. ]

All right. I'll go right now and I'll let you know, okay?

Okay.

[A pause before she creaks out a:] Thanks Jack.

Of course.

[ I take care of mine. ]

You were right about Damian. I talked to Zatanna and then I talked to him.

[ He won't say how that conversation went, but Jack does not presently look like a guy you want to be on poor terms with. ]

I'll stay near her.

[Before he even speaks, Korra's thrown off a bit by seeing the state Jack's in. But after hearing him, her brow bores down in anger. Zatanna tried to brush it off as nothing and it didn't seem that way last night.

But she does have to give Jack credit. Korra was ready to not talk at all and storm out of the Brazen Turtle.]

Thanks. I'll be checking up on her when I can too. [Half of her wants to ask how Damian reacted and the other half still wants to head over to his suite.]

I didn't tell Dick, I don't know him all that well. At least, not that Dick. [And she didn't even want to go over asking about what Zatanna said about Dick being Robin.

She has no idea who Robin even is.]

Zatanna said she told Dick already and would talk to him again. I hate to drag the guy into a mess like this but...

[ And thus making it clear that Jack didn't know that Robin and Dick were the same person yet. ]

[She can’t argue that it’s best for Zatanna to tell him. If it was up to Korra, she’d be staying with the magician since she chose not to stay at the Avatar’s suite.]

Well I’m glad she is. He’s her boyfriend, it’s important.

[Now that she’s gotten word back on her safety, Korra’s anger simmers down to a tight frown.]

I didn’t want to drag you into it either, but there wasn’t much I could do.

[ Trust him, Jack's already considered that option. ]

Yeah.

[ That's all that Jack volunteers on Zatanna's State of the Boyfriend. ]

No, you were right to mention it to me, Korra.

[Dick and Zatanna are not territory Korra wants to broach on either, so she leaves it at that.]

It’s what friends do. [Smallest shrug ever.]

You'll let me know if you hear anything else?

[ It's phrased as a question but it's really not. ]

If I can’t handle it, yeah.

[Right now, she still thinks she can handle most anything.]

No. Anything at all.

Anything that might hurt her.

[Her face is completely neutral.]

Korra. I--

[ He looks away from the feed for a moment, though not before a bit of ice has begun to climb the corner of the screen, expression hardening as though he closed a part of himself off. ]

You said it already, right? We have to protect and care about people even if it keeps us alone, no matter how much it hurts. That's what I'm doing.

[Why was being obstinate is anyone's guess, but what he says confuses her for a split second.

Then her eyes widen.]

Y- You remember that?

[Since he never mentioned anything, Korra assumed that it faded away for him. Like any other dream would. Something she didn't want to bring up. THe words were just as much for her as they were for him.

Only he listened.]

Yes. It wasn't an easy thing to hear but it helped other things make sense. About Charlotte, even about... what happened with Elisa and that other Jack Frost.

So don't try and shut me out of this, Korra. I'm doing what I need to do.

[Her brow furrows.]

Jack. That was for me, not you. [She rubs her face. This is not what she was expecting on top of a horrible hangover.]

I just couldn't see you like that, okay? It hurt. I needed to get you out of it.

[ Jack shakes his head. ]

It doesn't matter who you meant it for. It was still necessary for me to hear.

[ And he won't forget it. She'd imprinted the concept on him when he was at a literal lowest point, ensuring that he would always mentally link the two. But that was not the point of this discussion ]

I know you and Zatanna are friends. I'd ask the same of her if you were in trouble.

[ Please let me protect those I care about: you, her, all of you. ]
