[It's a few days after the fact, but better late than never, right? Jim looks like he's gone a few rounds with sleep deprivation, but this is important and he doesn't want to forget, so,]

Hey. You okay? With all the -- [fingerwiggle] disappearances?

[He's not asking what caused it, or if Jack was affected, per se. He knows the problems the kid has with being invisible, and he just wants to make sure he's all right in the aftermath.]

[ The fact that Jim bothered to contact Jack at all is enough for the spirit; not that he thought the captain didn't care, just that he'd have his hands full. So Jim gets a calm smile, not forced. Having other people to focus on helping keeps him from dwelling too much on his own experiences with that particular phenomenon. ]

Hey yourself. I'm all right, how about you?

Decent. Can't complain too much.

[He drags a hand through his hair.]

Don't have much time to talk, just wanted to make sure you were. You know.

[ You're such good people, Jim. It isn't hard to see why you have the family you do. He doesn't have to say it; they both know. ]

Yeah, I know.

But it's fine. [ and then because surely Jim expects an answer to that effect, Jack adds: ] I know it's not the same as me. Plus it's bad juju to try and outdo people on bad things. Hell of a role reversal though.

[He smiles a little, shakes his head.]

I'll bet. Everybody you know's back now, yeah?

... they're not invisible anymore, no.

[ But they won't be "back" until they're not suffering these strange symptoms. He feels uncomfortably useless in this situation: Julie's blindness, Korra and Costigan's missing memories. ]
