No, Jack, stop. None of this is your fault. The person who was talking, they just. They didn't understand, and they should have stopped. But they didn't, and that's in no way your fault.

[ Zatanna had also said she knew who it was and given that the anonymous person had said themselves to be from the same world as Dick, it did narrow the field considerably for possible persons. However Jack had told Zatanna he didn't want to know and that was the truth; he didn't want it to colour his perception of it if it had been someone he knew or considered a friend. ]

Thanks, Dick. It still shouldn't have gotten out of hand in a place like that.

It shouldn'tve. But that part falls on my shoulders. I should have stopped it right as I saw it. And I didn't, so the blame goes to me for that one. I wish I had gotten to it sooner, I got so caught up... well, doesn't matter. Is there anything I can do? Maybe take you out to lunch or something? Send you a huge plate of cookies, anything?

How about the cookies for some stories?

[ Jack remembered the way Dick's eyes had lit up at the mention of the other Guardians and sharing those tales, as much as he knew of them... that seemed like a perfect balm to this. ]
